This trail was originally an Indian trail and is approximately 4 miles long, one way. In any case, peaceful campground with some great scenery and we love it. This pleasant hike goes through spectacular country carved into a granite stock, whose erosion has produced an intricate maze of. The hiking trail goes from the East Cochise Stronghold Campground, over the 'Stronghold Divide' and down into the West Stronghold Canyon. I don't think there is anywhere to buy gas or beer anymore without going to the next town.
Town is only a short drive away if you forget some things, however, when I was there last, the only gas station in town had been closed. This is a big event as we will induct a new member, present awards to club members and install next years officers. Weather is usually a little cooler than Tucson but nothing like going up to Mt. Benton is helping Mary get ready for our Lions Club meeting tonight. Even better, the endless days of sunshine and easy access give you the freedom to play in this wonderland all through the winter months. For smaller campers though, most sites are accommodating. The Cochise Stronghold showcases many moderate, safe, mixed and sport routes in addition to the traditional hardman routes.

The dispersed sites are all located on a short little loop and unfortunately, now that I have a much larger camper, there are only 2 or 3 spots I have a chance of fitting into. 4505 N Cochise Stronghold Road, Cochise, AZ 85606 (MLS 22018638) is a Single Family property with 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. I have never stayed at the paid campground and likely never would as it is a very tiny and cramped little campground and you have to actually drive past the dispersed campsites to get to it. I have camped here at least eight times, perhaps more since it might be my favorite spot near Tucson.
